BEAUTY AND THE SHOES

Travel, Travel, Travel ….I love to travel – its my tranquil moment of relaxation and serenity, the time to reflect on how blessed I am to be able to do what I do and love my experiences along the way. Its also my time to put my brain on auto pilot and let myself enjoy the sights and sounds around me. Ahhh..I love my life! With that thought in mind, my dearest friend shoe designer John Ashford sent me an invitation to his third trunk show in New York City and I was so excited all week for its arrival. The day finally came and even though the weather was a little cold, the trunk show was the highlight of my day!  Knowing that the event was gonna be featuring shoes and beauty products made my braving the cold all worth it!

For those of you that have never attended one of John Ashford’s events, it is truly amazing. This time there were twice as many shoes as the last trunk show and the people that were in attendance couldn’t decide between one pair of shoes or the other! They were all beautiful and for every pair that the lovely ladies tried on there so many fabulous comments. With the shoe shopping being highly successful – we also had Skin care/beauty products to compliment the whole look. The beautiful model and owner of Sensual Beauty Zephorah Nure, was present to feature her amazing Hawaiian Sensual Collection. Her line features a variety of products with exotics scents of Gardenia and Hibiscus and essential oils to relax you after a stressful day…sounds amazing to me!

I always enjoy attending John Ashford’s events because you can learn a lot from his conversations and you can try on and purchase as many pairs of shoes as many shoes as you want in a cozy, comfortable setting. The people are always so warm and inviting, the conversations are intelligent and at times funny – you literally walk in not knowing anyone and walk out with a few friends added to your list. These events will make you wanna stay for hours and never leave but at the end of the day you can be assured that you’ve met your shoe shopping fetish and little extra!

My trip to New York City is always amazing and when I get invited to his events, I feel like a kid in a candy store! Shoes galore and my undecisiveness on which ones to choose from! On this day, I chose an awesome pair that of Mrs.Pacman wedges – check the rest of the pics of the event below …These events will happen monthly and I can’t wait to attend the next one in April!

THE JOHN ASHFORD TRUNK SHOW

15443150_10154281733264075_8922832747485162394_o

A few days ago, I struck up a conversation with a friend and the subject of my fashion experiences came up. While I reminisced about my invites to various exclusive shows I mentioned that I had been invited to a Trunk Show that would be taking place in a few days. She didn’t know what a trunk show was so I proceeded to inform her of what it was about and how fun they are. She was very excited and wanted to know when the next one would be happening. I informed her that she would personally be invited to the next show and we would go together!

Now I am assuming that most of my followers who read my blog would know the fashion terminology but for those that don’t, I will tell you what a trunk show is and no it isn’t a show that sells or shows off trunks for you to buy LOL. Heres the definition of trunk show: a sales event for showing merchandise to staff and select customers. That, my readers was exactly what it was and more…

Last week, Shoe designer John Ashford called me with some amazing news – he was having his private trunk show event in Clinton Hills Brooklyn, Ny and I had first dibs as blogger/photographer for that day! You can imagine how excited I was and I didn’t hesitate to accept his invitation. My excitement for the rest of the week till then as you can imagine was through the roof. Being a fashion blogger does have its perks and I’m so glad I could experience it and share this with my readers! Take peek at the pictures from the Authentic by John Ashford’s private trunk show sponsored by Barefoot Wines! Oh and I purchased a few pairs of amazing shoes of course!

VIDEO: VIKTORIA MODESTA MOSKALOVA – PROTOTYPE

Viktoria-Modesta-by-steve-kraitt-mua-bea-sweet-hood-by-finch

If you haven’t heard of Victoria Modesta then you must continue to read my post and fill yourself in..please I insist! I happened to stumble upon this amazingly stunning beauty while browsing thru articles online and man is she something to admire.

Viktoria is a pop artist/model who was born in Daugavpils, Latvia on February 25, 1988. Due to a doctors negligence at birth she had been in and out of hospitals which led to long lasting complications with her leg. In 2007, she decided to voluntarily amputate her leg below the knee to guarantee good health/wellness and she also wanted to make sure that she could get around as easily as she possibly could. Due to this physical difference she has been know to alter the visual perception of what beauty is and can be. This girl can sure rock it and hold her own…check out her stunning video and pics below, she is amazing!

This video clearly depicts that in the name of fashion, style, and beauty all things are possible. She just took it to the Umpteenth level and to me thats amazingly sexy! In this video you can depict a beautiful rendition of dark, gothic art and a whole lot of sexiness oozing all over. God, she is gorgeous! Love this!!

Can’t deny she is a beautiful chick!

JonEnoch_-ViktoriaModesta_0531-740x1024

She ain’t afraid to rock it in the name of fashion and beauty, No shame in her game — go Viktoria!

What did you think of the video? I must have watched it over and over about 20 times as its just that amazing! I’m gonna head back and watch it again but you, my reader, have to tell me your thoughts on this…is she stunning or what??

Happy Shopping my lovelies!!

HOW MUCH ARE THOSE LOUBOUTINS IN THE WINDOW?

christianlouboutin-gortika-3140332_BK01_1_1200x1200

 Christian Louboutin Gortika, $1,195.00 @ChristianLouboutin.com

Why is Christian Louboutin so revered in our current society of the haves vs the have nots? I love Stilleto’s just as much as the next shoelover but this obsession with having a pair or two of Louboutins has just gone too far for me.  I truly speak for the have nots because I do not have 495.00 and I certainly don’t have 4,000 dollars! So can you see where I’m coming from? I sure do hope you can relate because I think I’m not the only one that has to ask, “How much are those Louboutins in the window?” or better yet do I sarcastically have to ask, “Can I afford to give an arm, leg, lung, and eyeball” in order to have the Red Soled bottoms. I sure as hell don’t think so, as I see many other shoe designers that are coming out with beautiful shoes that in my opinion are just as amazing as the one’s that insanely rich celebrities are wearing on their feet today.

Christian Louboutin ‘Pina Spike’, $1,045.00 @ChristianLouboutin.com

Its clear to me that we live in a society of wants vs needs and that to me seems so ridiculous and selfish. If you can afford it more power to ya but if your in that percentile that cannot afford to splurge on Mr Louboutin – why even bother? Look around you – there is so much more to beautiful heels than those 5oo dollars pair of shoes you wanna buy all for the sake of “fitting in” or “being popular.”  Why follow a trend when you can be happy being an actual individual, be a leader not a follower! Congrats to you if you can afford Mr. Lou but shame on you if your spending the money you don’t have in order to make Mr. Lou an even happier Billionaire.

In this post I am preaching to those that believe that in order to decorate your feet and feel beautiful you must have a ridiculously expensive pair of shoes on your feet. Let me inform you that you are wrong, take a look at the following pics of shoes that I absolutely adore and best of all they won’t set your wallet or checkbook on fire…check it out!

After seeing all of these beautiful shoes, would you still prefer the Louboutins or would you rather just go with what “calls to you” and says, “buy me?” I would rather go with a shoe that calls to me or a shoe that I really want to buy because its beautiful not because its trending. I don’t know about you but I would rather be a leader and not a follower! Hmmm? I think thats why I have such weird taste when it comes to fashion. But its okay, I like to set my own standards and be who I really want to be not who everyone else want me to be. Individuality is what makes us all beautiful and I really, really, like it that way.
